HCEC-TV Releases Fall JTA Student-Athlete Features on Youtube

HCEC-TV Fall Interviewees

On a Friday in September, Gina Ryan of HCEC-TV came to Vine Grove and interviewed some of JTA's Fall Student-Athletes. HCEC-TV has been conducting the same athlete features for the HCS High Schools and Alton saw fit to reach out to her in an attempt to see if they could start the same for the Middle Schools.

Two representatives from each fall sport were selected by the coaches of each program to be interviewed, and as it turned out the 7th-grade Student-Athletes of the Year from 2018-19 were chosen to speak to their talents on the Basketball Court, and Football Field; Jerica Johnson and Mason Howard both spoke about their experiences on the athletic side of JTA; along with 8th Graders Adam Charney, Aliza Brown, Alexandra Bialzik, and Ashley Hart, these Alton Trojans piloted this for middle schools in HCS.

“We are so proud of these Trojans. With Middle School sports becoming more and more competitive, it’s time for these athletes to start getting recognition earlier in their careers,” said Richard Rowland, JTA Athletic Director, “We have a lot of great kids up here, and I’m glad we’re starting to get them the recognition they deserve”

When approached by Rowland, HCEC-TV Coordinator/Producer, Gina Ryan, said that she loves doing athlete features for all the schools, but it takes school support to make it happen. “I would love for every HCS middle and high school to take advantage of the services we offer, but it takes help from each school to make it happen,” said Ryan.

“I hope other middle schools start following suit of what we’re doing over here in Vine Grove and giving all HCS students-athletes the opportunity to do this in the future,” Rowland concluded.
