The art show took place at Jessamine County Public Library in Nicholasville, KY and 5 students from Heartland were chosen to participate based on winning the school level competition, where administration and teachers judged the art entries based on a given rubric and criteria similar to the state show criteria. These five students were: Gideon in Ms. Garrido's 1st Grade Class, Brooklyne in Mrs. Savage's 2nd Grade Class, Giana in Ms. Hornback's 3rd Grade Class, Jayda in Mrs. Mraz's 4th Grade Class, and Peyton in Mr. Shartzer's 5th Grade Class. Each of those students had an art piece submitted into a category based on medium used and Gideon Studer placed 3rd overall in his category of Mixed Media Arts, with his metal robot collage piece. Gideon and his family attended the awards ceremony on Friday, April 26th, 2019 where he received a medal and certificate. Giana and her family were also in attendance to the event, where she took a picture with her painting. Mrs. McCombs, the art teacher, as well as Ms. Garrido and all of the Heartland Elementary School staff and administration, are proud of each of the students who participated.
