Your child will be enrolled into the Scholastic Reading Counts Program this year. Students read books based on their individual Lexile scores. Your child's Lexile score determines the level of books your child can read, and comprehend independently. Students will take the Scholastic Reading Inventory each quarter to determine their Lexile score. I will sent that information home for you to review. The goal is for each child to show reading growth each quarter.

Second grade students must have at least a 420 Lexile to be considered on-grade-level in reading. Third grade students must have at least a 520 Lexile to be on grade-level.
