3rd Grade Welcome Letter

August 10, 2018

Dear Parents/Guardians,

It is hard to believe the summer is over and we have officially begun the 2018-2019 school year! We definitely look forward to the exciting year to come.

Below is important information regarding our school’s Leader in Me program, Parent/Teacher/Student Communications, and the 3rd Grade Homework Policy. Please know that if you ever have any questions or concerns, you’re welcome to email, call, or send notes to us.

School-Wide Rules & Expectations: Our school-wide rules at Woodland Elementary are as follows:

  1. Be Respectful.

  2. Be Responsible.

  3. Be Ready.

We implement these everywhere in the building and though they’re pretty simplistic, they encompass what we expect of our students…WE SUCCEED…NO EXCUSES…NO EXCEPTIONS!

Class Dojo: In an attempt to keep the lines of communication open and immediately accessible, we use Class Dojo. Class Dojo is accessible via the web at www.classdojo.com or available as a free app for your mobile devices.
You should receive an invite from your child’s teacher to the email address and/or mobile number you have listed on school paperwork. Class Dojo is an instant way to receive text messages and important reminders directly from your teacher. We highly recommend that you sign up to be part of this group!

Communication & Homework: In order to communicate with you regularly, it is your student’s responsibility to bring their agenda home daily for you to sign.
The third grade homework packet is sent home each Friday and is due the following Friday. The packet includes three items:

  • Reading - A one-sheet reading passage with comprehension questions

  • Math - A one-sheet facts and skills practice

  • Spelling - A one-sheet list of the weekly spelling list (typically 20 words).

Our Mission: We believe in our students and have high expectations for them, just as we know you do. Together we can be a great team that supports and works together to ensure that your child rises to the challenge and is successful in achieving all they aspire to accomplish and more. We look forward to working with you and your child!

In all sincerity,

The Third Grade Team
