Central Hardin High School JROTC Army Instructor Martin Fawbush has been selected as the US Army Cadet Command’s 7th Brigade JROTC Army Instructor (AI) of the Year for 2019.

The award is presented annually to an instructor in the 7th Brigade (comprised of JROTC units in Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee) who encourages excellence in the classroom and stimulates motivation among instructors through service projects, competitions, and overall program success.  MSG Fawbush, starting his 9th year at Central Hardin, has also received the Bronze, Silver and Gold Instructor Awards.

MSG Fawbush retired from the US Army after 30 years of distinguished service.  He served as an Infantryman, Recruiter, Airborne Instructor, and Drill Sergeant.  He served 8 years at the University of Louisville as the Senior Military Instructor prior to his service at Central Hardin.

The Central Hardin Raider, Rifle and Drill teams are some of the best in Cadet Command.  The Raider team competed in the Male and Co-ed Divisions at the National Raider Championships with the male team finishing as the top team in the brigade. The drill team finished the season undefeated at 101-0 and was the top scoring school in the 7th Brigade Drill Championships.

The Bruin Battalion has received the Honor Unit w/Distinction, the highest unit distinction each year.  The Bruin Battalion is active in school and community events.  Cadets assist annually in the US Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots.  They are involved in the supporting local community parades and veteran’s recognitions.  They plan and execute the Hardin County Elementary Fitness Day each year at Central Hardin.
