The Hardin County Board of Education met today in a special meeting to amend the current school year calendar.
The Board voted unanimously to allow schools to be open on Monday, February 18, 2019. Schools were originally scheduled to be closed that day for the President’s Day holiday.
The district has cancelled school seven days this school year because of inclement weather.
“This recommendation to the Board comes after we missed three days last week,” HCS Superintendent Teresa Morgan said. “With an upcoming day-off in the calendar (President’s Day), we had a great opportunity to create a make-up day.”
As of today, the last day of school for K-12th grade students is Monday, June 3, 2019.
“We may come back to the Board and ask it to review the calendar again,” Mrs. Morgan noted. “There is a lot of winter left and we need to see what happens with the weather before we make further amendments.”
