The Vine Grove Elementary School Site-Based Decision Making Council has selected Ashley Cockriel as the school’s next principal.
Currently serving as the VGES assistant principal, she will begin her new duties immediately.
“I’m thrilled to have this opportunity at such a student centered school,” Cockriel said. “The staff, the students and their parents are part of my family. Our school is the best at placing students and their growth as priority one. I appreciate the council’s faith in me to lead with the expectation of continued excellence in this school community.”
She came to Vine Grove Elementary a year ago to serve as the school’s assistant principal. She started her career as a fifth grade teacher at Rineyville Elementary School. After four years, she returned to her native Grayson County to serve as a fifth grade teacher at Lawler Elementary School in Leitchfield, Kentucky. She came to Vine Grove after a three year stint there.
“We are looking forward to Mrs. Cockriel serving in her new role,” HCS Superintendent Teresa Morgan said. “She is dedicated to the students at Vine Grove and knows what it will take for them to continue to receive the best education possible. She has developed and collaborated with other staff in creating successful strategies that provided strong student growth and she will continue to do while serving as principal.”
“Communication is critical in success,” Cockriel added. “I encourage the staff, students and their parents to always connect with me as we all seek what is best for our students. Our school is strong because we depend on each other and help each other grow. I’m excited to see what this year holds and the many years to come.”
She is a 2007 graduate of Grayson County High School and a 2011 graduate of Western Kentucky University. She also earned her Master of Arts degree, her Principal Certification and her Rank I in administration from WKU.
