Hardin County Schools’ dedication to providing an evidence-informed education that prepares students for success in the real world has led it to earn the annual EVERFI Empowered Seal.
The EVERFI Empowered Seal is a designation awarded to K-12 school districts and individual schools that have demonstrated an exemplary commitment to whole-child education through the use of EVERFI’s comprehensive, evidence-informed digital programs.
These programs inform and empower students on critical issues including financial literacy, social-emotional learning, health and wellness, inclusion and college and career readiness. Educating the whole child not only impacts how healthy, engaged and productive students are during school but also their well-being and success far beyond the K-12 years.
Now in its third year, the EVERFI Empowered Seal is a designation awarded to public school districts that have demonstrated an exemplary commitment to comprehensive education strategies on topics such as financial literacy, health and careers. This is the first time that HCS has been awarded the Empowered Seal.
“This is truly an honor,” HCS Superintendent Teresa Morgan said. “Our efforts to know the name and need of every child help us ensure that our staff is truly meeting their needs. It is exciting to earn this recognition. It is even more gratifying when a student knows that he or she is loved, safe and will be taken care of when they are with us.”
In addition to being recognized nationally for its work, the Empowered Seal provides HCS students with the opportunity to participate in the Empowered Seal Scholarship contest. Ten students will be selected as winners. Two students will earn a $1,000 scholarship and eight students will each earn a $500 scholarship. Contests will be held in the fall and spring.
