West Hardin Middle School Assistant Principal Christin Swords has been named the new Hardin County Schools Director of Middle School Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment.
Mrs. Swords will be working with HCS middle school administrators and teachers to implement engaging learning opportunities for students that center around a growth mindset.
“A couple of Instructional Services team members are retiring,” HCS Chief Academic Officer Greg Sutton said. “We have shifted some responsibilities to match the needs of our district. This move helps us continue to effectively assist and support our schools.”
HCS recently announced North Hardin High School Principal Tanya Corder as the new Director of High School Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment.
“Our school district has exceptional teachers and support staff,” Mrs. Swords says. “I am looking forward to building relationships and working closely with all of the middle schools to continue to build excellent educational experiences for our students. I am eternally grateful to West Hardin for the support it has given me and for preparing me for this opportunity.”
She started her career in education as a Language Arts teacher at West Hardin Middle School in 2010. In addition to her classroom duties, Mrs. Swords was a Title I coordinator, served on the school’s Site-Based Decision Making Council, and was chair of the WHMS Curriculum/Instruction Committee. She became the school’s Assistant Principal in 2017.
“Mrs. Swords has all of the characteristics we were seeking for in this position,” Mr. Sutton added. “Her experience in coaching teachers to execute best practice instructional strategies has led to success at West Hardin. She will do a terrific job at assisting administrators and teachers around the district.”
“Her knowledge and experiences are extensive,” HCS Superintendent Teresa Morgan said. “Mrs. Swords will be a tremendous asset to schools in her new position.”
She and Mrs. Corder will take over for the retiring Linda Reed, HCS Director of Assessment and Program Effectiveness and Jon Thomas, HCS Director of Secondary Curriculum and Instruction.
