PRESCHOOL & KINDERGARTEN EARLY REGISTRATION DATE SET FOR 2021-22 SCHOOL YEAR

preschool and kindergarten registration date set for 2021-22

Hardin County Schools will hold pre-registration for preschool and kindergarten on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM, at all elementary schools except Meadow View, Radcliff, Woodland and Vine Grove.  Registration for students in those districts is located at North Park Elementary.

A child’s birth certificate or other proof of age may be shown at this time, but proof of age must be verified when school starts.  Interested parties can CLICK HERE for enrollment information.

Preschool services are provided for the following children:

  • Children, ages three and four, with speech delays or other identified disabilities, regardless of income;
  • Children who are four years old on or before August 1, 2021, AND who qualify by state income guidelines.

Children who will be five (5) years of age on or before August 1, 2021, are eligible for kindergarten during the 2021-22 school year.  A child born after August 1, 2016 is not eligible for kindergarten in the fall of 2021, but may be eligible for preschool.

If parents have a child who is eligible for preschool or kindergarten in the 2021-22 school year, they can pre-register that child on Wednesday, March 3, 2021.  If parents are unable to pre-register the child on this date, they can call their school and the staff there will gladly help them make arrangements to do so at another time.

There may still be an increase in health precautions in March 2021.  HCS will publish guidelines in that regard closer to the time of the registration event.

“We wanted to publish our date because early registration is an important date to parents of younger children,” HCS Director of Early Childhood Carlena Sheeran said.  “We hope this early date gives parents an increased amount of time to prepare students for the new school year and create an even stronger sense of excitement.”
