guidance for fall sports 2020

The Kentucky High School Athletic Association has issued guidance documents regarding fall sports for middle schools and high schools.  Hardin County Schools desires that the community knows more about the implementation of that guidance at its athletic venues.

  • All attendees will wear a mask for the duration of their stay on campus.  Student-athletes will wear a mask when they are not participating in the contest.
  • Social distancing at a minimum of six-feet will be required. Family members can sit together and be within six feet of each other.
  • Spectator attendance at games will be maximized at 20% of the venue’s capacity.  Each school will determine the capacity of its venue in accordance with KHSAA recommendations on attendance and will work with the competing school regarding the distribution of tickets.
  • There will be no general admission tickets.  Tickets must be purchased before all contests.  The parents/guardians of participating student-athletes will be given first priority for tickets.  Schools will determine the capacity for each sport and will handle the dispersal of tickets.
  • Spectators and athletes will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms before entry into the athletic venue.  All will be asked if they currently have COVID-19 symptoms and temperatures will be taken.
  • No passes of any kind (coach’s cards, lifetime passes, etc) will be honored at any HCS athletic event.
  • Spectators are expected to follow the guidance of game officials, game management and venue signage.

“These are certainly unique times,” HCS Superintendent Teresa Morgan said.  “We know that most everything regarding any event at our schools is going to be different this school year.  We all must work together to ensure the safety and health of our students, staff and community.  We truly appreciate everyone’s best wishes, kindness and mutual respect as we work to provide opportunities for our students to succeed at the highest levels.”
