When students register for or return to school each year, parents expect a stack of paper to come home with their child on the first day of school. Hardin County Schools is working to cut down the amount of paper sent home when families are preparing for the 2019-20 school year.
“We realize that filling out paperwork is a bit tedious.” HCS Superintendent Teresa Morgan said. “It becomes a burdensome task, especially if there are several children in the family. However, it is necessary. A majority of the forms parents normally complete will be online for parents when we start the 2019-20 school year. Parents will be able to submit that information electronically and it will go to the appropriate people. We hope to begin this process with next school year’s Kindergarten students when they register this spring.”
To access the documents and properly submit them, parents must have an Infinite Campus® Parent Portal login username and password. A parent must contact their child’s school to obtain an initial login number. Infinite Campus is the system that public school districts in Kentucky use to house student information like grades, parent contact information and other important data. If a parent already has an Infinite Campus Parent Portal login, they will not need to acquire a new one.
Once the documents are available on the Infinite Campus Parent Portal, parents and guardians can login using the login information and start the work. It is important to note that not all documents will be accessible online and some must be completed on paper. There are some documents that state/federal regulations require to be completed on paper.
“We want the start of the school year to be an exciting time for the students and the entire family,” Morgan added. “Hopefully, we can reduce the stress by taking this step. I appreciate the work of our instructional technology department and our student services department to make this possible.”
