Students, pumpkins from different departments will be displayed during lunch. Make sure you vote for your favorite.
Many of you have been asking, “When is DECA going to start?” Well, here it is! DECA will hold its first meeting on Monday, November 9th at 4:00. This meeting will be open to all students who have taken at least one business and marketing class during high school including those who are enrolled in business and marketing classes this year. Come see what the excitement is all about!
John Hardin Beta Club is accepting applications until 10/30/2020. The National Beta Club’s four pillars are achievement, character, leadership, and service. All students that are seeking membership must feel confident in their ability to be academically successful, be respectful in all circumstances, be a leader among their peers, and be willing to give their time to help the greater good of our community. All students who have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.25 or above may apply for admission to the John Hardin Chapter of Beta Club. Admission is not automatic. In addition to having the required GPA, applicants must demonstrate significant accomplishment and/or participation in the four areas indicated on the application form which include community service, extracurricular activities, leadership roles, and absolutely NO disciplinary referrals. Each area is weighted equally in the application process, so it is necessary to have some accomplishments in each area. For an application, please contact Maggie Vogel, Jennifer Cobb, or Stacey Moore
John Hardin Senior Class is accepting applications for the senior class advisory council. Seniors must have a GPA of 2.5. Pick up applications outside room 208 or on the senior class google classroom.
Seniors- Your butter braid orders are in. B Day students will have small orders delivered during 5th block today. If you are an OLA student, you do not drive, or you have a larger order, please see Mrs. Punjack to arrange pickup.
The sophomore T-shirt design has been finalized! Check out the design outside of Mrs. Pleasant or Ms. Michael’s classroom. You can now order your sophomore class shirt. Short sleeve T-shirts $10.00, long sleeve T-shirts ($15.00) and hoodies ($20.00). T-shirts/hoodies will not be ordered until payment is received. See Mrs. Pleasant in room 225 or Ms. Michael in room 221 to place your order.
Students, the library has many new award-winning library books and the library is open all day every day. Ask for a pass from your teacher and visit the library sometime soon to check out a book. If you can’t get to the library, use the book request & delivery link on the library’s web page. Look for signs posted in the hallways providing a QR code that will take you to the book request form.
The senior T-shirt design has been finalized! You can now order your spiritwear. Order forms are outside 208, on the senior class google classroom and on the senior class remind. Drop off orders with Mrs. Punjack or Mrs. Golden. Orders will not be placed until payment is received. Orders will be taken until November 12th.
Attention ALL Juniors: Instructions regarding the application for the Governor’s Scholar Program can be picked up in the Guidance Office. Even though you will complete your application on-line, you must print and deliver to the Guidance Office. Please see the Guidance Office for important deadlines including school deadlines. GSP is a five-week summer program for outstanding high school juniors to achieve their academic and personal potential, cultivate their leadership capabilities, expand their horizons, and develop their flexibility, creativity, and critical thinking skills. These final applications are due back to Mrs. Graziano by December 4th. There is an application preview opportunity due by November 6th if you submit your rough draft application and would like feedback and suggestions. Email Tara Graziano with any questions.
The Governor's School for Entrepreneurs (GSE) will begin accepting applications for summer 2021 on Monday, Nov. 16. GSE brings teens together from around the state of Kentucky, immerses them in a creative space, and arms them with the tools they need to unleash their entrepreneurial spirits. GSE has scheduled seven virtual events this fall for prospective applicants and their families to showcase the GSE experience and dive into the application process. The 2020-2021 Bowling Season is upon us. Our first practice will be November 5th at Etown lanes immediately after school. A bus is provided on the tennis court side of the building. You must have a current physical in hand. Practices will be on Tuesday and Thursday each week. For more information please contact Mrs. Jenny Brown in room 404 or Mike Moritz in room 112.
The 2020-2021 Archery Season is about to kick off. Our first practice will be Nov. 10. We will start at 6pm with elementary middle school shooters. You must have a current physical in hand and your HCS Student-Athletic Handbook turned in before you will be allowed to practice. If you need a form see Coach Moritz in room 112. We will post the practice schedule times for all archers on our facebook page.
