FACTOIDS!!

The classes are all working on Time periods in music and comparing them to the music that they listen to today. It is very interesting to see how music such as Jazz affect music like rap. We have also discussed Different composers such as Beethoven and Mozart and the contribution they made to music.

here is a list of composers we have discussed in class and a musical composition that they listened to from that composer.

Baroque Composers

• Johann Sebastian Bach, Fugue in G minor
• Antonio Vivaldi, The Four Seasons
• George frederick Handel, The Messiah..Hallelujah Chorus

Classical Composers

• Franz Josef Haydn, Surprise Symphony
• Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Overture to the Marriage of Figaro

Curiosities

• Mozart was 35 when he died, in his time he wrote over 400 compositions, ranging from art songs, to symphonies.
• Beethoven played for Mozart right before he died, Mozart was so impressed he predicted Beethovens future by saying to his friends "watch this one, he will change the world."
• The Bach family, decendants of Johann Sebatian Bach, are now civil engineers.
• Vivaldi was called the "Red Priest" because of his red hair, and the fact that he was a priest.
