Mrs. Wyatt, Mrs. Seymour's, and Mrs. Muratalla's classes took a Magic Carpet trip to
Mount Vernon after reading George Washington's Breakfast by Jean Fritz. The book is about a boy who searches the library, the Smithsonian and even takes a trip to Mount Vernon to learn what our first president ate for breakfast. The students solved the mystery for him in the Mount Vernon kitchen by discovering Martha Washington's original hoecake recipe, which they then prepared and tasted in the library.Meeting the Author
Mrs. Stith attended the NCTE National convention in Nashville where she learned many new ideas to make library services better and met three talented Newberry and Caldecott medalists, and one of her favorite authors, Jean Fritz.

Smart Brownies
Mrs. Wood, our student teacher, taught us a lesson about Adding Like Fractions. As a follow-up she asked us to double a brownie recipe. We all had fun and practiced Math at the same time. She put all of our recipes in a hat and drew Jeremy's out and made it. Jeremy had added the fractions perfectly. The brownies were very tasty.
