Preparing to Attack Elizabethtown
6 Col. Basil Duke
took the Nolin garrison, burned the wooden bridge and made “morgan neckties” of
the rail lines.

7 The soldiers made camp a few miles from Elizabethtown, which
was protected by 600 union soldiers.

8 Morgan’s men assembled on Cemetery hill overlooking Elizabethtown.

9 Union col. H.s. smith marched his 600 soldiers across the
hill, out of sight and back across again to make morgan think he had more men.

10 Capt. Tom quick solved the mystery. Morgan learned about the trick.
