"Gettysburg: The Face of Battle"

A Distance Learning Program from Gettysburg National Military Park

The field of Pickett's ChargeUpton students took a trip to Gettysburg without leaving the classroom. On May 9, 2001, Mrs. Rigg’s class participated in a live broadcast from the Gettysburg Battlefield to classrooms all across the country via satellite. Featured in the one-hour broadcast were two 8th Grade school groups that acted out a special program on "Pickett's Charge", the last Confederate gamble at Gettysburg. Students submitted 3 questions about the battle via e-mail during the broadcast. They were excited to receive answers from John Heiser, the Historian from Gettysburg National Park, who took part in the broadcast.
