The James T. Alton Middle School Site-Based Decision Making Council has asked Kevin Estes to be the school’s next principal.  He currently serves as principal of Hickman County High School in western Kentucky.

“It is a true honor and privilege to be selected as the next principal of James T. Alton Middle School,” Estes said.  “Great things are happening at JTA and I look forward to working with all of our stakeholders to build on the school’s pride and performance.”

Mr. Estes started his educational career as a science teacher at Carlisle County High School in 1996.  In 2003, he was asked to be the principal at Fulton County High School.  He began a six-year stint as an assistant principal at Ballard County Middle School in 2005.  He became principal there in 2011.  He has been principal at Hickman County High since 2014.

“We are thrilled to welcome Mr. Estes to the Hardin County Schools family,” HCS Superintendent Teresa Morgan said.  “He has a strong reputation of building and maintaining a rich sense of school culture and helping students and staff to become the best version of themselves.  We know he will do great things at James T. Alton to continue its legacy of success.”

“JTA has established a great culture for learning and is a beacon in the Vine Grove community,” Estes added.  “I am excited about our staff and community working together to make JTA the model middle school in Hardin County and in the state.  I truly believe that is possible!  I cannot wait to move my family to this great community and become part of the JTA Middle School family.”

He is a 1996 graduate of Western Kentucky University.  He earned his Master’s degree, Principal Certification and Rank I, Superintendent/DPP Certification from Murray State University. He also attended and graduated from the Leadership Institute for School Principals managed by the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and Center for Creative Leadership.

Mr. Estes replaces the retiring Jama Bennett.  She has served as the school’s principal since 1999.
