Let's Play Jeopardy

If you have not seen a game that has been created in Jeopardy, just click on the following and you will discover Jeopardy Games created by teachers in Hardin County for the school year 2000-01. As you begin to think about a game in a specific core content area, don't create one that has already been created. Use it in your classroom. Why reinvent the wheel! Create one that you will be able to use and share with other teachers.  Remember to record the Exit Expectation(s) that your game addresses.

You will notice it is actually played by using PowerPoint.  Each question, answer and the game board, is a slide all hyperlinked together.  All of the hard work has been done for you! I created the slides and links; all you need to do is create the categories, questions and answers.  Easy, huh!  You bet!  An excellent Internet site that may help you create questions is:  www.learningshortcuts.com. Go to Main Entry and then to 1900+ reviews.  From there choose your grade level etc.  Keep one thing in mind though, this should be a review of what you have taught.

The following sites will give you specific directions and advice.  Print yourself a copy to refer to while you are in the construction stage.

You are now ready to download the blank jeopardy template.  How do I do that?

*  Click on the word "template"

*  Go up to File, Save As.

*  In the "Save In", save it to your Desktop.  See the picture below:

*  Name it "Blank Jeopardy"

*  Click on Save

*  Open PowerPoint

*  Open an existing presentation

*  Where is it?  On your desktop

*  Click OK

*  You should now have the blank Jeopardy open and ready to begin creating

*  Now is a good time for you to save your new game. Save it to a disk.  DO NOT name it "blank Jeopardy", because then you will not have a blank template to create other games.  Give it a specific name, like Weather5 (Weather, from Exit Expectations, grade level 5)

*  Remember to click on the little diskette,  periodically to save your work.  You wouldn't want to lose it.

At this point, follow the printed directions that you have printed out.  If you have any questions, don't hesitate to email them to me.

Save your game to a diskette, so you will be able to upload it to your folder stored on your school's server.  From there you will be able to post the game to your web page and you will be able to play the game from there.  Send me a copy of it so I will be able to post it to the County Jeopardy Game web site.
