17 Read the first chapter or the first few pages of a book. Read it slow at first then read it again, this time a little faster. |
18 Read another chapter or the first few pages of your book. Write a brief summary in your journal. Share it with a family member. |
19 Read your story or a new book. Create a story map: title, characters, setting, events. How are the characters important? |

20 Practice addition/multiplication facts (spend 20 minutes reviewing) |
21 Read a book about sports or animals. |
22 Check out the sports page in the newspaper. Locate the teams that won each game. Tell how many pts they won by. |
23 Read your sports or animal book. Write a summary of the book in your journal. Be sure to include details from the beginning, middle & end. |
24 What does it take to be a good athlete? Think about the characteristics of one. Write a paragraph in your journal. |
25 Play secret word with a family member. Give clues about the meaning of words, see if your partner can guess. Use: ball, team, sport |
26 Research: Baseball How far is it from home- plate to 1st base? What is the distance around the bases? |
