EAST HARDIN MIDDLE SCHOOL SITE-BASED COUNCIL ASKS BRITTANY NICKELL TO STAY ON AS PRINCIPAL
Hardin County Schools Superintendent Nannette Johnston asked Brittany Nickell to serve as the interim principal at East Hardin Middle School almost a year ago. This morning, the East Hardin Site-Based Decision Making Council asked her to serve as the school’s permanent principal.

“Mrs. Nickell has done an outstanding job this year as interim principal,” HCS Superintendent Teresa Morgan said. “She has a deep relationship with the students, faculty, staff, parents and East Hardin community. I know she will continue to lead East Hardin Middle School with class, professionalism and a student-centered mindset.”

“I am thankful to the council for its confidence in me,” Nickell said. “I love this school, its students and everyone – staff, parents and community – who are dedicated to its success. This year has given me the opportunity to grow professionally to serve our students in a more unique way than ever before.”

Mrs. Nickell arrived at East Hardin in 2013 to serve as an assistant principal. She was at West Hardin Middle School for ten years before going to EHMS. She taught 8th grade Social studies and served as the school’s Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment Coordinator and Gifted and Talent teacher. She started her teaching career at the former Radcliff Middle School (now named North Middle School) as a 7th grade Social Studies teacher. She was the girls’ basketball coach at Radcliff Middle and West Hardin.

“The council interviewed several candidates and they all had solid credentials,” Morgan added. “Under the leadership of (HCS Director of Human Resources) Chris Bauer, the council worked hard to ensure that East Hardin’s students had the best possible leader.   I commend them on their dedication to the mission.”

“East Hardin is truly my home,” Nickell added. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to come to a place each day that has so many fond memories for me. More importantly, I appreciate the fact that our East Hardin Middle School family is totally focused on the growth of our students. We have a bright future ahead of us.”
