Chasity Gregory has taught math at East Hardin Middle School, located in Glendale, Kentucky, for the last six years. She has taught sixth and seventh grade, Pre-Algebra, and Algebra I. Here, she has made great progress with her students and takes great pride in the classroom rapport she creates with the students each year.
Prior to becoming a teacher, she worked in the accounting field. Through this work, she came to know that her passion wasn’t with account balancing and auditing, but with math and relationships with people. This realization led her to a teaching program to pursue that passion. She discovered her purpose was to ensure young people had the practical math skills needed to succeed in a swift-changing workplace and more importantly, to enjoy the math and the problem-solving and the teamwork that most jobs require.
In an effort to bridge the gap between the classroom and the workplace, Chasity has taken the initiative to create, what she feels is, a futuristic-take on the math classroom. She is launching a 1:1 chromebook classroom designed to prepare her students mathematically but also, give them practical skills in teamwork, problem-solving, communication, leadership for their future jobs.
