I love teaching! No matter the subject, I enjoy meeting and getting to know my students. I have taught many different classes during my 26+ years at Central Hardin High School, and I'm happy to be teaching these classes this year: Kaplan/College Readiness; Arts & Humanities (Art/Drama); Creative Writing, English III A and B; and Dual Credit Public Speaking.
I'm an Alabama native, but I feel like Kentucky is my home, having lived here for nearly 30 years. I earned my bachelor of arts degree in English/music at the University of Montevallo located in Alabama, my home state. I earned a master of arts degree in English/education from the University of Louisville. I received National Board certification in 2003 with recertification in 2013. I was awarded the Ashland Oil Golden Apple Achiever Award in 1998, and most recently received the 2014 Ashland Teacher Achiever Award. I continuously seek to better myself professionally for the benefit of my students.
In my spare time, I enjoy leading worship music at my church, reading anything by Barbara Kingsolver or Sue Monk Kidd, watching my daughter perform in dance and musical theatre, viewing my son's artwork, and hanging out with my family riding bikes at Freeman Lake, watching Doctor Who episodes, or just sitting around talking.
