Welcome to Reading!!

**Students should always have a library (type) of book with them for class.
**Each reading class reads silently the first 10-12 minutes the beginning of class.
**Each student should have a log updated daily.  Logs are turned in every 2 weeks.

 

November 13-17, 2017

8th grade
Monday-Friday--reading aloud and discussing the novel Make Lemonade.  Study questions to follow.
 

6th and 7th grade-

Monday-Friday--reading and discussing short mystery stories--Ghost Light of Maco, Once Minute to Midnight, A Graveyard Mystery, etc

 

September 18-22, 2017

6th grade-

Monday-Tuesday--reading/reviewing  the story "Eleven"-reviewing the vocabulary.
Vocabulary quiz on Wednesday.  They have vocabulary boxes to study.

Wednesday-Friday
*vocabualry quiz over the story "Eleven"
*complete 11 questions and two stars about he story

7th grade-

Monday-no class-on a field trip.
Tuesday-Wednesday-
*read and discuss the story "Seventh Grade"
Thursday-Friday-
*cause effect, character traits, and vocabualry skill sheets

8th- grade

Monday-Wednesday
*read the story "Raymond's Run"-working on answering interActive questions

Thursday-Friday
*cause and effect skills, plot of a story, vocabulary skills sheets

 

September 25-28, 2017

 

6th grade
Monday-Tuesday
* Review the story "Eleven" and assign InterActive questions (1-11)plus 2 star-Thinking Questions-turn in for a grade
Wednesday-Thursday
*Scholastic Action--Read the articles together and discuss each article
Friday-
*Scholastic Action Assessment

 

7th grade
Monday-

*finish up skill sheets from the short story "Seventh Grade"
Tuesday-
*"Introduce the story "Thank You M'am"   pages 16-22-new vocabulary words given to complete the vocabulary boxes-quiz on Thursday

Wednesday-
*Review and finish the vocabulary words for "Thank You M'am on pgs. 16-22.  Read the story.
Thursday-
*Vocabulary Quiz, discuss the story, assign InterActive questions on pages 16-22
Friday-
*Work on cause/effect, conflict (internal/external). vocabulary

 

8th grade

Monday-Tuesday
*discuss vocabulary words from the new story "A Mother in Manville"-pages 20-32-assign vocabulary boxes-quiz is on Wednesday

Wednesday-
*Read "A Mother in Manville" pages 23-32 and discuss
Thursday-
*Answer InterActive Questions of "A Mother in Manville"
Friday-
*assign skills to "A Mother in Manville" visualizing, setting, vocabulary
