Our vision is to empower students to be independent thinkers so that they can solve problems in their lives, their community and in our global society.

Mission

Our mission is to provide positive learning experiences and a safe environment in order to help students build proactive relationships, make good life choices, and succeed in a diverse society.

Motto

Every Child, Every Chance, Every Day

Dear Spartan Family,

As we progress through the 2012-13 school year, our focus will continue to be rigor in the classroom. We will work to challenge our students to learn more and learn deeper, to care more about each other and to begin to understand what it means to be a contributing member of a global society. Our world has changed drastically since I began my education. Technology has advanced at a rapid rate, and we in education must adjust how and what we teach to keep up with the changes and to put our students on the path to global citizenship.

This year, we will provide learning experiences that stretch your students to do more than memorize. We will assist them on their journey to become independent thinkers who understand what it means to work together to achieve. We will accomplish this through the lessons we teach using the Common Core Standards and through a greater use of technology. We will use textbooks not as the sole source of knowledge but as supplemental resources to add to what we learn. We will use resources like Edmodo for students to gain information and for teachers to post resources and content for students. Students will become more actively involved in their own learning.

Through the school-wide Positive Behavior Intervention Supports we employ, students will be taught the expectations for being a positive member of the school community. Our focus will be on teaching expectations and providing positive experiences to assist students in reaching their goals. The emphasis is on “positive.” It is our belief that all students can learn and can act responsibly and appropriately. In a world in which violence and intolerance toward others is seen through every social media available, it is our responsibility to teach hope and to teach respect.

If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact me.
