Hello! 

    I am a Special Education Teacher (Collaboration) in three Kindergarten classrooms.  Collaboration by its very nature is working, sharing ideas and planning lessons with the regular education teacher. 

    I am married with four children, my youngest is six years old.  I have worked many jobs, but none that I love as much as teaching.    I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management at Campbellsville University.  I am nearing completion of my Master’s Degree in Education certifying in Special Education (K-12).  I am scheduled to graduate May 2006!  I love working with youth and feel New Highland Elementary School is a great place to work.  The students, staff, and parents together make for a great atmosphere to work!

      I work in three Kindergarten classrooms during the day.  On any given day, you can find me in either, Mrs. Drake’s room, Ms. Tabb’s room or Mrs. Mitchell’s room.  I feel both blessed and privileged to teach with such a wonderful group of teachers!  My schedule keeps me hopping from one class to the next, so follow me as I attempt to take you through my daily schedule.  I am in Mrs. Drake’s room Monday through Friday from 7:45 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and on Tuesday and Thursday’s from 11:20 to 2:10 p.m. where I work with all students in the area of Reading, Writing and Math.  From 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., you will find me in Ms. Tabb’s classroom for Reading and Writing.  During this time, I work with all students who need assistance and teach short lessons during small group instruction.   On Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I work with Mrs. G. Mitchell’s class for Math and other activities. 

      Kindergarten is the first step for most students into the classroom.  Their experience should be both positive and challenging.  The regular education teachers and myself along with staff work together to create an environment that is conducive to learning for all students.  When learning is exciting, students are eager to learn more, and that energy is contagious! 

      My planning time is from 12:00 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. daily.  I am available during those times to meet with parents regarding their child or before and after school.  Please don’t hesitate to contact me at (270) 737-6612.
