Elementary Dress Code Policy for 2011-2012
Safety and pride in
appearance have a positive effect on the school environment.

Shirts
& Sweaters -
All Shirts and Sweaters must be solid, striped, plaid or
patterned: P Can be with or without
collar P Can be short or long
sleeved P Can be tucked in or worn
out. If un-tucked, the length of the
shirt should not exceed beyond the middle of the hip (unless wearing
leggings) P Must appropriately cover
torso (no cleavage) -
The following are not
permitted: O Lettering, words, pictures or graphics O Sleeveless shirts O Spaghetti straps O Tank tops O Hooded |
Pants,
Capri’s, Skirts, Shorts, Skorts, Jumpers &
Dresses
-
Pants, capri’s, shorts, skorts, skirts, jumpers and dresses may be solid, striped
or plaid -
Leggings or form fitting clothes are not allowed unless shirt
covers the bottom -
Must be worn at the waist -
Must have hems -
The bottom of the pants must not touch the ground

Jumpers must be worn with appropriate shirt. -
The following are not
permitted: O Lettering, words or pictures O Sweatpants O Cutoffs O Mesh shorts O Frayed, torn or pants with holes |
Sweatshirts
-
Must be solid in color, hemmed and worn at the hip with an
appropriate shirt underneath -
The following are not
permitted: O Lettering, words or pictures O Hooded – May be worn to and from school but must be removed during
the school day. |
Shoes
-
The following are acceptable: P Tennis Shoes (Preferred
for safety reasons) P Flat closed toe shoes P Sandals with a strap
around the back P Shoestrings must be tied
tightly at all times -
The following are not
permitted: O High heels O Platform shoes O Shoes with wheels O Flip flops of any kind |

Logos on shirts, sweatshirts, sweaters, and
pants cannot exceed 1 square inch. The
exception is that Meadow View, North Middle, JT Alton and
-
Hats and gloves must be removed upon
entering the building.

Coats
and jackets are not to be worn in the classroom. Lightweight sweaters and sweatshirts can be
worn if student is cold. Any sweatshirt
containing a zipper from top to bottom will be considered a coat/jacket.

No bandanas, sweatbands, scarves, combs
(picks) or other headwear will be worn in the building.

Students
are expected to adhere to the Hardin County Schools Code of Conduct regarding
proper appearance.
Appearance that is considered a possible detriment to the normal school
process and orderly operation will not be allowed.
If a student is not in compliance with the school
dress code:
