Meet the Librarian

My name is Mikki Harris Bland and I am the Library Media Specialist at Lincoln Trail!  I am very excited about what the year holds and I am looking forward to the new experiences headed my way with the students at Lincoln Trail.  I am very blessed to have a technology savvy assistant who works with me in the library, Tina Furnish.

I have a Bachelor's degree from Western Kentucky University in Elementary Education.  I completed my Master's degree at the University of Kentucky in Library Media.

My teaching career began here in Hardin County at Parkway Elementary School, where I taught fourth grade for one year.  After that, I headed to Lexington while my husband, Caleb, completed law school at the University of Kentucky.  I also taught fourth grade in Lexington for three years.

After returning to Hardin County, I was very fortunate to be hired to teach fourth grade at Lincoln Trail.  I taught fourth grade for four years at Lincoln Trail and this is my home!  I am so blessed to be able to stay at Lincoln Trail and be able to move into a new chapter in my life as a teacher.  The 2010-2011 school year will be my third year in the library.

On a personal note, I am married to Caleb Bland and have two sons, Jonathan and Joshua!  They are the joy of my life and it won't be too long before they are both students here at Lincoln Trail.  Outside of school, there are three things that take up most of my time: my sons, my church, and UK games! Those of you who know me already know that I am an avid University of Kentucky basketball and football fan!  Other than that, I am also known for my love of anything Mickey Mouse!
