The Hardin County School District makes a free appropriate public education available to each child with a disability regardless of severity, whose age is 3 to 21 years and lives in the geographical region of Hardin County. Hardin County Schools is the fourth largest school district in Kentucky with a total enrollment of approximately 14,360 students. There were 2,384 students with disabilities reported on December 1, 2011. The district serves students with disabilities in all 3 high schools, 5 middle schools, 13 elementary schools, an alternative school and 7 different facilities.
