The mission of the Hardin County Schools Special Education Support Team  is to provide a comprehensive service approach to meet the educational needs and maximize the potential of all  students.

The Hardin County School District makes a free appropriate public education available to each child with a disability regardless of severity, whose age is 3 to 21 years and lives in the geographical region of Hardin County.

Hardin County Schools is the fourth largest school district in Kentucky with a total enrollment of approximately 14,360 students.  There were 2,384 students with disabilities reported on December 1, 2011.  

The district serves students with disabilities in all 3 high schools, 5 middle schools, 13 elementary schools, an alternative school and 7 different facilities. 

The following groups also meet regularly for professional development:  

  •          School Facilitators

  •          Special Education Support Team

  •          Speech Therapists

  •      Assistive Technology

  •          MMD/FMD/ EBD Teachers and Assistants

  •          Teachers/Interpreters for students with hearing impairments 

  •      New teachers to Hardin County Schools Special Education

  •       PT/OT
