Actuarial Foundation Advancing Student Achievement Grant  

This grant provides funds for mentoring programs involving actuaries to support the teaching and learning of mathematics.  Programs should target underserved students—remedial and gifted—as well as others who would benefit from extended enrichment in mathematics.  Schools are eligible to apply.  Grants are a maximum of $25,000 for two-year projects.

Clarence Olander Grant   

The Mathematics Education Trust of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) provides funds to elementary school staff for in-service education projects.  Funds may be used for consultant fees and honoraria, materials, substitute time, and conference or workshop registration fees.  Teachers are eligible to apply on behalf of their schools.  Grants are a maximum of $2,000.

E. Glenadine Gibb Grant   

The Mathematics Education Trust of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) provides funds to preK-12 teachers to develop a plan that implements some aspect of the NCTM Principles and Standards.  Funds may be used for project-related expenses (e.g., equipment, materials, supplies, professional development).  Classroom teachers are eligible to apply.  Grants are a maximum of $2,000.

Ernest Duncan Grant   

The Mathematics Education Trust of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) provides funds to help preK-6 teachers improve their professional competence in mathematics.  Funds may be used for professional development, classroom mathematics projects or materials, or projects to improve the mathematics curriculum.  Teachers with at least three years of experience are eligible to apply.  Grants are a maximum of $2,000.

ExxonMobil Foundation K-5 Mathematics Specialist Program Grant  

The goal of this program is to improve student learning in mathematics—as measured by student test scores or results from alternative assessment measures—by strengthening teachers’ grasp of mathematics content, pedagogy and assessment.  Funds may be used for the ongoing professional development of K-5 teachers and mathematics specialists seeking to strengthen their knowledge of mathematics, new curricular materials, theories of learning, and instructional and assessment strategies.  LEAs are eligible to apply.  Grants range from $1,000 to $100,000.  Contact: Joe E. John and Stacy Wahl Grant   

The Mathematics Education Trust of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) provides funds to preK-8 teachers to develop a project enabling students to better appreciate and understand some aspect of geometry consistent with the NCTM Principles and Standards.  Projects must include applications of geometry to other areas of the curriculum (e.g., art, literature, music, science), and may integrate technology into the teaching of geometry.  Funds may be used for project-related expenses (e.g., equipment, materials, supplies).  Classroom teachers are eligible to apply.  Grants are a maximum of $2,000.

Mary Dolciani Grant   

The Mathematics Education Trust of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) provides funds to help 7th-12th grade math teachers improve their professional competence.  Funds may be used for professional development, classroom mathematics projects or materials, or projects to improve the mathematics curriculum.  Teachers who are NCTM members with at least three years of experience are eligible to apply.  Grants are a maximum of $2,000.

Math911 Mathematics Software Grant   

Professor Weissman’s Math911 provides grants consisting of multi-user software and software licenses to secondary schools to support algebra, trigonometry, and pre-calculus mathematics programs.  Software may be used to teach the following concepts:  pre-algebra, real numbers, linear equations and inequalities, exponents, polynomials, factoring, rational expressions, radicals, linear graphs, systems of equations, conic sections, quadratic equations, complex numbers, absolute equations and inequalities, x word problems, x and y word problems, college algebra, trigonometry, and pre-calculus.  Schools are eligible to apply.  Grants are valued at approximately $2,400.

Theoni Pappas Incentive Grant   

The Mathematics Education Trust of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) provides funds to help high school math teachers develop mathematics enrichment materials (e.g., books, visual displays, computer programs or displays, slide shows, videotapes) or lessons detailing an innovative teaching unit.  Teachers who are NCTM members with at least three years of experience are eligible to apply.  Grants are a maximum of $2,000.

Toyota TIME Grant   

Toyota’s Investment in Mathematics Excellence (TIME) program provides funds to support innovative mathematics projects focusing on individual students and classrooms.  Projects may include—but are not limited to—curriculum development and implementation, staff development and classroom use, partnerships with business and local community, after-school or extracurricular mathematics education activities, involvement of at-risk or minority students, connection of mathematics with other disciplines, cooperative learning, applications of technology, innovative assessment or evaluation strategies, and creative use of manipulatives and hands-on activities.  Funds may be used for project-related expenses (e.g., equipment, materials, professional development, supplies, teacher compensation).  Teachers of elementary/secondary mathematics are eligible to apply.  Grants are a maximum of $10,000 for projects up to two years.
