EXPLANATION OF HEPATITIS A VACCINE PROCEDURES

hep a vaccine

While the new requirement for Hepatitis A vaccine is a TWO-DOSE SHOT (a six month window is REQUIRED between the two doses), your child will be allowed to begin school even if there has not been time enough to receive both doses.  Please bring your child's updated Immunization Certificate that indicates the first dose of Hep A vaccine has been given.  This certificate will expire 6 months (plus a two-week window to get it done) after first dose is given.

Therefore, the expectation is that the second dose will be administered in that SIX-MONTH (+ TWO WEEK) window. A final Immunization Certificate will be given at the administration of the second dose which should then be submitted to your child's school.
