  1. A new goal must be set at the beginning of each nine weeks.  Teachers may adjust this goal, based on the previous quarter and/or other needs.
  2. Homeroom teachers will notify parents of the studentís goal at the beginning of each nine weeks.  The method of notification shall be left up to each team.
  3. Teachers will monitor studentsí scores and goals throughout the quarter, notifying parents of any concerns.  Teachers should notify parents of the dates by which students should have 25%, 50%, and 75% of their goal, as well as their progress toward reaching this goal.
  4. Teachers should not allow their students to take tests on fiction books below their range.  This may be allowed, within reason, for non-fiction books.

The Curriculum committee will determine the following each year:

o       To receive a semester reward, any student who moves in to our school, will take the STAR reading test.  His/her goal will be adjusted, based on the STAR test and the number of weeks remaining in the quarter.  If that student meets their goal, then (s)he will receive the appropriate rewards.
