CLASS SYLLABUS FOR CP ALGEBRA 2
Mrs. Caplinger
2005-2006
PREREQUISITE: Algebra 1 ( Part 1 and Part 2 OR recommendation of 8th grade teacher)
COURSE DESCRIPTION: Algebra 2 introduces the student to and continues the development of concepts related to mathematics with special focus on content related to equations and inequalities, the function concept, graphs of functions and relations, the properties of families of functions, real and complex numbers, statistics and probability, matrices and determinants, rational and polynomial expressions, and sequences and series. As a part of the study the student will learn to read for information, compute using a variety of algorithms, quantify numbers, communicate algebraic reasoning and use computers and technology within the context of daily lessons.
TEXT AND MATERIALS NEEDED: TESTBOOK: PRENTICE HALL ALGEBRA II
3-ring binder for notebook
Calculator ( Scientific/Graphing)
Loose leaf paper
Pencil
Grid paper
GRADING POLICY: Grades will be calculated by averaging together the following: Tests, Quizzes, Worksheets, Portfolio Assignments, Projects, Notebook, Homework. Attendance and semester exams will be averaged in according to Central Hardin Handbook.
CLASS RULES: BE on time.
BE prepared. Always have textbook, notebook, and pencil.
Homework needs to be completed on time.
BE attentive.
BE courteous to others.
BE observant of all rules in the Code of Conduct and Central Hardin Handbook.
LATE WORK: Students absent from class will be allowed to do make-up work according to school policy. When not absent, only one homework assignment can be turned in one day late. Missing work frequently is detrimental to learning concepts needed to understand what is going on in the next lesson. Any “graded” assignment will not be accepted after one week of due date, and will be penalized 10% per day late up to that point.
