English Teacher and School Newspaper Adviser

     Welcome to my web page!  I am looking forward to beginning my 16^h year in the teaching profession 

and my 13^th year at Central Hardin High School. Since beginning my teaching career at North Hardin High School

in 1994, I have taught all grade levels of English, as well as journalism and the Kaplan course

for ACT preparation in English. During the 2009-2010 school year, I will teach English III, Honors English III,

College Readiness (formerly Kaplan), Newspaper, and Introduction to Journalism.

     I have enjoyed being the adviser for the school newspaper, The Central Times, for the 13 years

that I have taught at CHHS. I continue to be challenged by the enthusiastic students that

make up the newspaper staff each year. We are hoping to utilize our school website more this year, so look

for ways to participate on our school website!

     Previously a cheerleading coach from 1994 to 2002, I have recently taken on a new role

as Central’s assistant cheerleading coach. I am enjoying being a part of this successful program again!

     I graduated from East Hardin in 1989 and from the University of Kentucky in 1994 with a

Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary English Education and a minor in journalism. In December of 2000,

I completed my Masters Degree in Secondary Counseling through Western Kentucky University. A few days

later, my first child, Jakob Stephen, was born.  Jakob is now a third-grader at Lincoln Trail Elementary.

In November of 2003, my second son, Reece Kyler, was born and is now a kindergartner at Lincoln Trail Elementary.

     I look forward to another fun and successful year at Central Hardin. Whether you are a student

or parent, I hope that you will always feel comfortable seeking my help with any problem that

might arise this year.
