Hello, my name is Myra Lewis and I am the

senior counselor at Central Hardin.  2011-2012 is my 15th year

in education and my 11th as a high school guidance

counselor.  I am a graduate of the Central Hardin

Class of 1993 and also a graduate of the University of

Kentucky and Western Kentucky University.  I am also the proud

parent of two wonderful children, Tate, 8, and Harper, 6.

 

I love working with seniors and will be happy to assist

Financial Aid Information

COLLEGE VISIT DAYS REMINDERyou must see Ms. Lewis BEFORE using a college visit day.  Please give at least one week’s notice!  (The policy actually says two weeks!) 

 

Forms must be filled out, signed by a parent, and returned to school BEFORE the visit in order for it to not be counted as an absence.  Please see the school policy on page 5 of the CHHS Student/Parent Handbook for more information.

           

The steps:

1.       Make a reservation/appointment with the college or university you want to attend.

2.      See Mrs. Cardin or Ms. Lewis at least one week before the schedule visit to get the necessary forms.

3.      Return the form with parent signature before the college visit day.

Special Programs

KASBO Scholarship—KASBO awards three $2,500 scholarships each year. In order to be eligible, the student must be a high school senior who plans to major in business or education. **NEW  Ft. Knox Area Chapter Military Officers’ Association of America—the chapter will offer nine $500 scholarships this year.  Applicants must be a family member of an active duty service member, or of a retired or deceased service member of the grandson/granddaughter of a retired service member, regardless of rank, of the active duty, Guard or Reserve.  See application for complete rules and regulations regarding eligibility:  2012 Ft. Hardin Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship--$1,000 scholarship.  Applicant must: Be enrolled in a medical field of study at an accredited college, provide a copy of a high school/college transcript with a minimum 3.0 GPA, be enrolled in at least nine semester college hours, provide a written recommendation from a teacher/instructor, and provide a brief summary of why you are requesting this scholarship.  Application: HMH Auxiliary Scholarship.doc Deadline to apply is May 1, 2012.

POST 9/11 G.I. BILL—For the first time in history, service members enrolled in the Post-9/11 GI Bill program will be able to transfer unused educational benefits to their spouses or children starting Aug. 1, 2009.  The Post 9/11 GI Bill provides financial support for education and housing to individuals with at least 90 days of aggregate service on or after September 11, 2001, or individuals discharged with a service-connected disability after 30 days. You must have received an honorable discharge to be eligible for the Post-9/11 GI Bill.  The Post-9/11 GI Bill is effective for training after August 1, 2009.
