Your notebook is an important part of your instruction. Your Ordner will become your source of reference and therefore should be brought to class every day and kept up to date. Checks for a quiz grade will occur randomly and unannounced and at least once quarterly the notebook will be collected for a test grade. If late when collected then 10 points per day will be deducted from the grade. If unsure where a paper shoud go then please ask the instructor.

 

The Ordner will be graded on the following:

  1. 10 points for a 3 ring binder in good condition.
  2. 10 points for the tab dividers which should be labeled as designated in section C. below.

C. Notebook Sections (5 points each). Please sort papers into the sections with 1 being at the front of the notebook and 10 at the very end.

1.Vocabulary – contains picture sheets, lists of vocabulary and any Wortschatz / Vokabulär

2. TPRS stories and related activities- This section will contain rewrites of stories, copies of stories, completion of stories, questions to stories, and any other story related activities.

3. Grammar – any notes, handouts, and grammar related activities and practices belong in this section.

4. Reading in German – This section will contain readers, questions to readings, and summaries of such readings.

5.Culture (includes maps, informational reading and notes about history, art, music, peoples, places, holidays, etc.) of the German Speaking countries

6. Listening including songs, audio segments and stories, which are heard on tape / CD along with worksheets and activities to these.

7. Videos with related work sheets and activities

8. Puzzles, coloring, and miscelaneous

9. Tests and Quizzes

10.General Section (includes this paper, syllabus; self evaluations, etc.)

  1. 15 points for having only German work in your Ordner. You should also refrain from doodling, writing comments, notes to frieds or even love proclamations on your papers. Be neat and legible with your penmanship. Remove rough edges from your papers and use only pencil, or dark blue or black ink for your work.
  2. 15 points for keeping all work neatly and evenly within the rings of the binder. Please do not place papers in the pockets of the binder or the dividers. Papers should be properly headed using the German format, along with the block and level of the class. And the topic of the paper. Keep the most recent papers on the top of each section.
