I, H. Ernest Hammons, was born in
Whitley County,
Corbin, Kentucky,
but was raised in the Okolona suburb of
Louisville, Kentucky. I graduated from Louisville
Male Traditional
High School in
1981. I continued my education
at
Bellarmine University
where I received upon graduation in May 1985 a Bachelor of Arts Degree. My major is Business
Administration with a secondary education teaching certificate. I began my teaching career at Elizabethtown
Vocational-
Technical School. I obtained a position at West
Hardin High
School and when East and West
Hardin High
Schools merged
I came to teach at Central
Hardin High
School.
I earned by Master of Arts in Education (1991) and Rank I (1993) from
Western Kentucky
University. I am certified to teach Business and
Distributive Education grades 5-12.
I also have the
following certifications:
Secondary School Principal grades 9-12, Administrator of Pupil
Personnel Services and School
Business Administrator.
My parents came to Louisville
to teach. My mother is a retired
elementary teacher (38 years) and my father taught
at the Kentucky School of Mortuary Science. He eventually got into the real estate business and I
obtained my real estate
license in 1981. I have my
license with (my brother’s real estate company) Ben G. Hammons Realty and
Auction Company.
Even though I was raised in Louisville
my father owned farms which we raised cattle, corn, soybeans and
tobacco.
At this present time we have our farms leased to various farmers in Hardin
County.
I enjoy teaching and traveling. Teaching has allowed me to travel which has enabled me to
be a better educator.
