Landscaping Course Syllabus

Course Description:

The subject matter of this course includes a study of various segments of the landscaping industry.  Landscape design, constructions, and maintenance will be emphasized.  Landscape plant identification, basic plant science, and landscaping business principles will also be discussed.  Leadership development will be provided through the FFA student organization.

Expectations for this course:

Each student will be expected to keep a daily notebook and to participate in all class activities.  Throughout the course of the class, you will be doing individual and group activities, and both written and hands-on projects.  A portion of this class will be spent in the greenhouse, or outside completing landscaping projects.  You will be expected to participate in all activities in the greenhouse or outside.  You should be dressed appropriately and ready to work outside every day.  Each student will also be expected to have an agriculture experience program and keep proper records.

Grading:

Grades will be based on exams, quizzes, daily work, and landscape project participation.  The notebook will count as one quiz grade.  Exams will have the highest weight, followed by the quizzes and group projects, and lastly, the daily assignments.  The CHHS grading scale will be used.
