Course
Description:
The
subject matter of this course includes a study of various segments of the
greenhouse industry. Operating and
managing a greenhouse business will be emphasized. Greenhouse plant identification, plant science, and landscaping
will also be discussed. Leadership
development will be provided through the FFA student organization.
Materials
Students Need to Provide:

binder, Paper

Pen and
pencil
·
Occasionally,
items to be brought from home for projects like poster boards
·
Gardening
gloves may be worn in the greenhouse, but are not a necessity
Expectations
for this course:
Each student will be expected to keep a daily notebook and to
participate in all class activities. A
large portion of this class will be spent in the greenhouse. You will be expected to participate in all
activities in the greenhouse including transplanting, sales, marketing, and
general care. You should be dressed
appropriately and ready to work in the greenhouse every day. Each student will also be expected to have
an agriculture experience program and keep proper records.

Grading:
Grades will be based on exams, quizzes,
daily work, and greenhouse participation.
The notebook will count as one quiz grade. Exams will have the highest weight, followed by the quizzes,
daily assignments, and greenhouse participation, all having equal weight. The CHHS grading scale will be used.

exams, 25 point quizzes, 10 point daily assignments, 25 point greenhouse weekly
participation/ 5 point daily participation, 50 point group work/projects
