STUDENT NEWS
AP/DC ENGLISH LITERATURE 2012-2013: Upcoming seniors who are signed up for English next year need to stop
by Mrs. Pearsall's room (205) as soon as possible to pick up the summer
assignment. ONLY come in
between classes OR before/after
school.
AP DUAL CREDIT US HISTORY: ALL students who signed up to take
AP/Dual Credit US History are required to go by Room 110 to pick up their summer assignment.
CASUAL PICTURES: Casual pictures are scheduled for juniors June 19th & 20th.
CENTRAL TIMES: The Central Times issue dedicated to
the Senior Class of
2012 has arrived! Inside, you will find 28 fun pages of
submissions from the senior class such as their favorite high school memories,
famous last words, a feature on two pairs of lifelong friends, wills,
six-word memoirs, prom pictures, fun superlatives, favorites
(movie, books, songs, teachers, etc.), confessions, memorable office
visits, farewells from Central Times staff members, and a list of
post-graduation plans and which senior is doing what. Don't miss it! 50 cents
at lunch, in Room 112 or Room 213 during 4th block.
DRIVING PRIVILEGES: Students, 6 or more unexcused
absences per trimester will cause you to LOSE your
driver’s license OR your ability
to receive one. See Mr. Bauer if you have questions or concerns.
DUAL CREDIT ENGLISH III: Students who have signed up to take Dual
Credit English III for next year should stop by Room 216 to
pick up a summer assignments packet.
Pick up before or after school or between classes ONLY.
HONOR CORD GRADUATES: Graduates, lists of Academic Studies
diploma students and Honor Graduates are posted outside the guidance office,
and have been sent to all senior English teachers. Please check the list and
inform Ms. Lewis if you think you have been omitted. Honor cords are currently on sale!
LIBRARY BOOKS, FEES & FINES: All library
books, late fees & fines are due IMMEDIATELY!
SENIOR CAPS & GOWNS: Caps and gowns are in and are
available for pick up from Mrs. Ross in Room 215 before school, between
classes, or after school. Tardies to class for this reason will not be excused.
Cap and gown packages should be held
upright to avoid losing the tassel- 5 were found in the hallways last year. Lost
tassels will NOT be replaced. Girls
are to throw away the collars; DO NOT
use them. All seniors must be on time for first block and on time for
graduation practice TOMORROW in
order to participate in the graduation ceremony May 17th. If anyone has questions, tell him or her to
see Mrs. Ross in Room 215 or Mrs. Kremer in Room 116.
STUDENT TECHNOLOGY
LEADERSHIP CAMP: Hardin County Schools will be hosting a Student Technology
Leadership Camp this summer. Space is limited to the first 60 high school
students who sign up. If you are interested in attending please see Mrs.
Autry or Mrs. Mills in the library.
TEXTBOOKS OWED: Students that owe textbooks or fees for textbooks
from any trimester this school year, will NOT
receive their report card until their obligation has been met. PLEASE take care of this situation ASAP!
GUIDANCE NEWS
FINANCIAL
AID APPLICATION: Seniors and their parents are
encouraged to file the FAFSA as soon as possible. Need-based money
is distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. To file the FAFSA, go
to www.fafsa.gov. Do
not use any other site, as they may be scam sites that will charge
fees. The FAFSA is free!
NIGHT SCHOOL FORMS: Night School forms are available in
the guidance office. Please see your grade-level counselor to sign up for
night school. Night school is for students who have failed courses and
are behind in credits.
SCHOLARSHIPS: Seniors, check Ms. Lewis's website WEEKLY for NEW scholarship
opportunities. There are many new scholarships currently listed! Go

SUMMER PROGRAMS FOR STUDENTS:
1) Cornell University Summer College—offers three- and six-week programs for
talented high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Choose now from
more than 20 programs and 45 courses offered between June 23 and August 7, 2012. For all information and

2) Emory
Pre-College Program—an academic summer program for rising juniors and seniors
at Emory University in Atlanta. For more information or to apply, visit www.precollege.emory.edu.
3) University of Kentucky College of Design
Summer Career Discovery Program—an intensive
two-week program held at the UK College of Design. Open to high school
students who will be juniors and seniors in the fall semester. For more

4) Western KY Summer Program for Verbally
and Mathematically Precocious Youth (VAMPY)— the Center for Gifted Studies at Western Kentucky
University, through a cooperative arrangement with the Duke Talent
Identification Program, is pleased to offer VAMPY, a three-week (June 24 –
July 14) residential summer program for very bright students who are
currently enrolled in grades 7 through 10. VAMPY is designed to provide a
balance of educational, cultural, and recreational experiences for high ability
young people. The program will be held on the WKU campus. For more information or to

BETA CLUB GRADUATION STOLE: Senior Beta
Club members who ordered a graduation stole may pick it up from Mrs. Winebarger
in Room 104.
FCCLA SENIOR CELEBRATION: The FCCLA
senior celebration has been SCHEDULED
for Friday, May 18th @
11:30 AM @ Mr. Gatti’s. ALL FCCLA members are welcome to attend!
SPANISH CLUB T-SHIRTS: Shirts sold by Spanish Club have
arrived! Please stop by Room 307 to pick yours up. We have a few extra, if
anyone would like to purchase one for $10!
Y-CLUB SHIRTS: Extra Y-club shirts for sale; 4 small
and 2 large shirts left for any interested faculty member or student. Cost is $10.

If
