PROPER PROCEDURE FOR
STUDENT DROP-OFF A.M.
In our effort
to ensure the safety of all students during the high-traffic morning time, we
ask for your help and continual cooperation in the following areas:
- Please
be sure all vehicles are taken to the back parking lot for student drops.
Due to buses in the front parking lot, it is an extreme hazard for our
students to be dropped by personal vehicles in the front parking lot.
- Note
the new signs and driving lanes for the back parking lot. During the
morning hours of 7:00 am – 8:00 am, the Hickory Lane turn will be for
entrance traffic only. The left lane will be used for those
wanting to park; the right lane will be used for those dropping students
off at the awnings. All traffic during these hours will exit the parking
lot at the Addison Warehouse. NO EXIT ONTO HICKORY LANE.
- Please
drive slowly and carefully in the back parking lot – always watching for
the unexpected.
- In
the back parking lot, please keep vehicles in a single-file for student
unloading. We understand that this process may be a bit slower, but it
is much safer than having multiple lines of vehicles with students
crossing in front and between cars.
- Please
park only in the back parking lot where slots are clearly marked and
available. This allows cars to proceed to the drop off area in the back in
a single file line. We ask that each vehicle pull to the end of the
awnings before unloading. We have two staff members ready to escort
children inside before the 7:40 bell. This will also help alleviate
traffic congestion. The back parking lot offers parking slots that will
accommodate parents who wish to walk their children to class.
These
children are our greatest treasures. We appreciate all of your help and
understanding in dealing with these safety issues here at G. C. Burkhead.
Please do not stop and drop off your child(ren) in unauthorized areas.
We cannot guarantee their safety in dangerous unloading zones.
Any student who is dropped off after 7:40 a.m. MUST
report to the office before going to the classroom.
