The Academic Team

The academic team competition is divided into four parts: Quick Recall, Future Problem Solving (FPS), Written Assessment, and Written Composition.

In Quick Recall there are two teams of four people each. One for each School. Each person has a buzzer in their hand. When the moderator asks a question the students can buzz in if they think they know the answer. The Spotter will call on them and they must answer right away or they will be called for hesitation and the other team will be given the chance to answer. If they answer correctly they will be given a bonus in which only the captain may answer. If they answer incorrectly on the bonus the other team will be given a bounce-back.

The FPS is a competition where there is also a team of four people, but they are given a prompt of a problem that might come up in the future and they have to come up with a way to solve it. The team that gets the highest score wins.

The next two are for individuals. Written Assessment is where student are given a test in any of the five subject areas. The areas are: Science, Math, Social Studies, Arts and Humanities, and Language Arts. Written Composition is when students write a composition on a prompt and whoever scores highest wins.

The Coaches

Our coaches are Ms. VanZant (left) and Ms. Vittitow (right). They have done a great job teaching and coaching us this year and we want to thank them for being the best coaches anybody could be.
