RECEIVES ITS PROGRAM REVIEW NUMBERS IN PRACTICAL LIVING, ARTS/HUMANITIES &
The Kentucky Department of Education defines a program review as a “systematic method of analyzing components of an instructional program, including instructional practices, aligned and enacted curriculum, student work samples, formative and summative assessments, professional development and support services, and administrative support and monitoring.” Program reviews have been written for three areas: arts and humanities, practical living/career studies and writing. They serve a number of purposes, which include:
*improving the quality of teaching and learning for all students in all programs,
*allowing equal access to all students the skills that will assist them in being productive citizens,
*allowing student demonstration of understanding beyond a paper-and-pencil test, and
*ensuring a school-wide natural integration of the program skills across all contents, beyond the program areas.
The review of a program is an on-going, year-round process.Through careful review, schools are able to identify strengths and areas of growth. Bluegrass scored a proficient rating in Arts & Humanities and Writing as well. When looking at the data across the state, only 28% of the middle schools scored a proficient rating in Arts & Humanities and 34% of the middle schools in Writing. We are very proud of the hard work our students and staff put toward reaching these ratings.
Congratulations to the Bluegrass Middle School Cheerleaders! They won first place and grand champions at a competitions where they went up against middle and high school teams! Way to Go!!!
