The mission of the Hardin County Schools Instructional Services Department is to continuously improve learning and performance of all students, staff, and community, by providing support to align research-based curriculum, instruction, and assessment with national, state and district standards.  The HCS Chief Academic Officer manages the Instructional Services Department.

Instructional Services Profile

  • Assessment covers accountability assessment, including K-PREP testing, as well as diagnostic assessment (MAP testing).

  • The School/District Report Card is posted on the Kentucky Department of Education’s website. Not to be confused with student report cards, these Report Cards provide information about each school and district, including test performance, teacher qualifications, student safety, awards, parent involvement and much more.  A link to the report card appears to the left.

  • Curriculum / Instruction serves all schools in the district in regards to curricular and instructional matters, as well as the Gifted and Talented program. 

  • Early Childhood Program has information about Head Start as well as Preschool.

  • ESS / ESL / Migrant covers Extended School Service, English as a Second Language and Migrant Education information.

  • GT Web helps teachers and parents with gifted and talented students.

  • HCEC-TV provides career and technical education opportunities for students that are interested in telecommunications as a possible career path.

  • Media Services covers the educational resource center, library media programs and On-Line II standards.

  • Special Education covers assessment referrals, hearing and visually impaired services, occupational therapy, physical therapy and social work services.
  • Technology is where to find information about work orders, technology resource teachers, and streaming videos.

  •  Title 1 covers title 1 program implementation, migrant programs, school/parent involvement and volunteers.

  •  Professional Development  is responsible for overseeing the professional growth of all certified and classified employees of the district.
