Have you ever wondered
how to bring the events of our country's beginnings to life for your students?
Have you wondered how to teach them the lessons of character and humanity that
this nation has learned at such a high price? To simply review the
documents in class is often less than effective, but what if they could be
dramatized?
The Fabric of America..... Pieced Together is an exciting new video
series from HCEC-TV that strives to do just that. Working together with
Ms. Ellen Douglas of John Hardin High School, along with her Political Science
students and Jeleena Hall as commentator, HCEC-TV has produced a brand
new video series that focuses on five key documents of United States history.
The Declaration of Independence, The Constitution, The Bill
of Rights, The Emancipation Proclamation, and The Gettysburg
Address are all seminal documents in the development of our nation.
Students from Middle School to High School and Adult Ed. will all benefit from
watching this series. Using humor and special effects, the videos bring
across not only the facts of these documents, but also the surrounding social
and historical context. Each video will have lesson plans and assessment
tools that can be downloaded from this website.
