Students in grades K-3 can be referred to Primary Talent Pool by a teacher or
parent in one or more of the following areas - Creativity, Leadership, General
Intellectual ability, visual art, music drama or dance. Other areas include
specific academic areas including Math, Reading, Social Studies, Science, or
Language Arts. Once a referral is made, the GT Resource Teacher at the
school must collect three pieces of evidence from each referred area, such as
teacher checklists, parent surveys, diagnostic data, student work samples,
etc.
After the appropriate evidence has been collected, permission to serve is
requested from t he parent or guardian. Once permission to serve has been
received, the GT Resource Teacher, classroom teachers and administrative
representative will meet to determine appropriate services.
