West Hardin VEX Robotics Team Earns 2017 State Championship

West Hardin Middle School VEX Robotics Team 4431B is the best in Kentucky. It has the hardware and the robot to prove it. The five students earned that title at the 2017 Kentucky Middle School VEX Robotics State Championship competition this past weekend.

Team 4431B is made up of Wyatt Atcher, Nathan Crawford, Jonathon Reilly, Logan Thomas and Samuel White. They also earned the Skills Challenge by posting a score of 80 -- currently the highest middle school Skills Challenge score in the state -- and the Judges Award for their outstanding robot and team performance.

The State Championship win qualifies Team 4431B for the VEX World Competition in April. This trip will mark the second consecutive year Team 4431B will represent West Hardin at the VEX World Championships.

The competition was held at the Hardin County Schools Early College and Career Center. Four other teams comprised of Hardin County Schools students placed in the top 10. A group of East Hardin Middle School students finished fourth, East Hardin Team 8259C finished fifth, West Hardin’s Team 4431A earned the sixth spot and East Hardin’s Team 8259 finished tenth.
