OFFICIAL RULES AND REGULATIONS

FOR

HARDIN COUNTY FARM BUREAU

LOUIS CROSIER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

 

1.Applicant must be a Hardin County Farm Bureau member or a son or daughter of a Hardin County Farm Bureau member.

2.Receipt of this award shall not preclude the recipient accepting other scholarships or awards.

3.All material, with reference to given applications, should reach Hardin County Farm Bureau, P.O. Box 1056, Elizabethtown, KY  42702 under single cover. 

4.All applications and supporting material must be postmarked no later than April 18.

5.All applications and supporting material of the winner and first and second alternates become the property of the Hardin County Farm Bureau.

6.Recipient must enter college no later than the fall semester unless circumstances beyond his or her control, such as serious illness or injury prevent his or her doing so.  In such case, recipient must enter college by the spring semester.

7.The Hardin County Farm Bureau Scholarship Committee will consider all applications as early as possible after the April 18TH closing date and will make every attempt to notify recipient as soon as possible.

8.The Hardin County Farm Bureau Scholarship Committee reserves the right to make a final decision on all cases that may arise concerning the interpretation of these results.

9.Applicants are judged on the following:  scholastic ability, extra curricular activities, need, leadership qualities, neatness, and sincerity.

10.The scholarship winner is requested to notify Hardin County Farm Bureau of his or her decision not to enter college.

11.Hardin County Farm Bureau will give 1 (one) $1000.00 cash scholarship.  Scholarship winner will receive $500.00 each semester to the college of their choice.  Proof of enrollment is required in order to collect scholarship.  This will be available no sooner than 10 days before the semester begins.

12.Second semester scholarship payment will be made after receiving a copy of the transcript indicating a minimum of a GPA of 1.8.  An appeal to the scholarship committee can be made if the GPA falls short of the recommended level.

13.Applicant must pursue a degree in Fire Rescue Science Technology and/or Agricultural Mechanics.  It is the intent of this scholarship to encourage students to receive training and education to prepare them for a career in rural farm safety and rescue.

Louis Crosier Memorial Scholarship Application

1.         A transcript of all high school academic grades attested by the high school principal, or official college transcript, or proof of a GED score of at least 45.  A non-traditional student must provide a statement of high school education and post-graduate activities.

Mid-Kentucky Kennel Club (MKKC) Scholarship 1. Purpose: The MKKC scholarship is to promote the participation of youth in the training and exhibiting of dogs in its many forms. 2. Eligibility – applicant must have achieved or maintained a 2.0 GPA and accomplished one of the following: a. Junior or regular members of the MKKC b. Participants in Junior Showmanship or the canine program of 4-H c. Persons involved with service dogs (military, law enforcement, therapy, etc) d. Any person promoting the welfare of dogs. e. Possess a letter of acceptance, proof of attendance or proof of application from/to a post-secondary education institution accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary Department of Education. 3. Application: Applicants must submit the documents in Appendix A to apply for the scholarship by 30 April each year to be considered for award of the scholarship. 4. Selection: Selection of the recipient(s) for the scholarship(s) will be a. BY weighted i. GPA (50%) ii. Membership in MKKC (10%) iii. Applicants participation in events (40%) iv. Essay (tiebreaker) score. b. The award of the scholarship will be at the sole discretion of the MKKC. Award is not guaranteed. c. Events calculated based on a maximum of 20 events per year, 1 point per event. Average of percentage for last five years will be applied towards the percentage in paragraph 4.a.iii. 5. Disbursement: Funds will not be given directly to a recipient. The MKKC Treasurer will send funds to the recipients account established by the Bursar of the institution the recipient is attending. 6. Renewal: A recipient may apply each year up to four years by submitting the documents in Appendix A by 30 April each year.. 7. Amount: The number and amounts of scholarship(s) will be determined by the MKKC members at a general meeting.AFCEA International also awards scholarships for undergraduate and graduate majors AND for STEM-related graduate degrees for teachers and/or post-graduate teaching credentials for teachers teaching STEM-related subjects in grades K-12.   These scholarships range in value from $2,500 to $5,000.  Several years ago, we were able to secure a $5,000 scholarship for Mr. Jason Neagle to retain his PLTW credentials.  The deadline for applications is 13 April 2018.  Similar to the student scholarships, there are very few applicants for these scholarships, so I encourage your STEM teachers to apply.

This is being sent to Athletic Directors and Guidance Counselors on record at KHSAA member schools.

For the fifth year Whitaker Bank, as part of its continuing title sponsorship of the Boys’ Sweet 16®, and the KHSAA will be presenting four one-time $1,500 scholarships. The scholarships are open to high school seniors that participate in KHSAA sanctioned sports and sport-activities.

Deadline for the information to be received by the KHSAA is Feb. 28. There is no limit to the number of applicants from a school.

Winners will be recognized during the 2018 Whitaker Bank/KHSAA Boys’ State Basketball Tournament, March 14-18 in Lexington.
