Radcliff Elementary School SBDM Council Meeting
Principal Selection Process
April 9, 2018 – 5:00 p.m.
 HCS Central Office

Minutes

  • Call meeting to order at 5:14 p.m.
  • Mrs. Crews made a motion to approve the proposed meeting agenda, and Mrs. Skaggs seconded the motion, and the agenda was passed by consensus. 
  • Welcome Visitors Mrs. Morgan, Mr. Mingus, SBDM council from JT Alton, SBDM council from Vine Grove, and SBDM council from Cecila Valley.
  • KEA Training on Principal Selection Process Mr. Mingus discussed with the council the policies and by-laws (rules and guidelines) for selecting a principal.  An activity that the council participated in was creating a list of qualities that we thought our next principal of Radcliff Elementary needed to help us be productive, motivated, and successful to start our new school year.  Mr. Mingus explained why there are 30 days to post job vacancies and what resources could help the council create interview questions for the applicants.  The resources that the council could use would be the school’s CSIP, Tell Survey, school report card, and MAP data.
  • The council selected a vice chair and secretary for the principal selection process.  The Vice Chair will be Mrs. Stinebruner and the Secretary will be Mrs. Crews.
  • The council discussed the timeline for process and set tentative meeting dates.  The date the council will announce the new principal of Radcliff Elementary will by May 9th at 2:30 in the library at Radcliff Elementary.
  • Dates for the selection committee are as follows: 
    • Review Survey Questions on Friday, April 20th
    • Create interview questions on Friday, April 20th at 2:30 in the conference room at Radcliff Elementary
    • The council will review applications at central office April 23rd- April 25th.
    • 2nd meeting to interview in the conference room at Radcliff Elementary at 2:30 on April 27th at 2:30 to discuss applicants and to review criteria.
    • Interviews will be at central office on the week of April 30th.
  • The council developed Survey Questions to be posted on the HCS website for teachers and parents to complete.
  • The meeting was adjourned at 7:33 Mrs. Crews made the motion to adjourn, and Mrs. Stinebruner seconded the motion and the motion was passed by consensus.

Principal Selection Process
April 20, 2018 – 2:30 p.m.

Minutes

  • Call meeting to order at 2:52 p.m.
  • Mrs. Stinebruner made a motion to approve the proposed meeting agenda, and Mrs. Skaggs seconded the motion, and the agenda was passed by consensus. 
  • Mrs. Stinebruner made a motion to approve the minutes from April 9th, and the minutes were passed by consensus.
  • Welcome Visitors Mr. Jones, Ms. Ellis-Reeves, and Ms. Greenwell
  • Ms. Morgan explained to the principal selection committee three options for hiring a principal that the committee could choose from:
  1. Council chooses interim principal for the rest of the school year.
  2. The superintendent chooses the interim principal for the rest of the school year.
  3. The principal selection committee can review applications and interview to select the next principal.

       The council chose the option number three to interview applicants and select the

       Principal.

  • Ms. Morgan distributed the survey results for the council to review and discuss.  The three largest percents from the survey results were:
  1.  Promotes positive school culture 60.71%
  2. Visible and approachable 80.36%
  3. Able to motivate students and staff 55.36%

             Using the results from the survey the council compiled a list of characteristics that they would like    in a principal; discipline, mentor, experience, visible, approachable, respectful, 

             consistent, encouraging, welcomes change, communicator, student-centered needs. 

            Using those words the council developed interview questions and performance tasks.

  • The council developed criteria that will be used while reviewing applications.
  • Next meeting will be at central office at 3:00 to select applicants to interview.
  • The meeting was adjourned at 4:44 Ms. Silar made the motion to adjourn, and Mrs. Skaggs seconded the motion and the motion was passed by consensus.

  • Meeting was called to order at 3:24 p.m.
  • Mrs. Stinebruner made a motion to approve the proposed meeting agenda, and Mrs. Skaggs seconded the motion, and the agenda were passed by consensus. 
  • Mrs. Stinebruner made a motion to approve the minutes from April 20th, and Mrs. Skaggs seconded the motion, and the minutes were passed by consensus.
  • The council went into executive session to review and discuss applicants to interview.
  • Next meeting will be at central office at 3:00 on Tuesday, May 8th and Wednesday, May 9th to interview applicants.
  • Announcement for the new principal of Radcliff Elementary School will be Tuesday, May 15th at 2:30 in the library.
  • The meeting was adjourned at 4:30 Mrs. Stinebruner made the motion to adjourn, and Mrs. Skaggs seconded the motion, and the motion was passed by consensus.

  • Mrs. Stinebruner made a motion to approve the proposed meeting agenda, and Mrs. Skaggs seconded the motion, and the agenda were passed by consensus. 
  • Mrs. Stinebruner made a motion to approve the minutes from April 27th, and Mrs. Skaggs seconded the motion, and the minutes were passed by consensus.
  • The council went into executive session to interview applicants.
  • Next meeting will be at Radcliff Elementary at 2:30 on Tuesday, May 15h to review and discuss applicants that were interviewed and to select the next principal of Radcliff Elementary School.
  • Announcement for the new principal of Radcliff Elementary School will be Friday, May 18th at TBA in the library.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:31 Mrs. Stinebruner made the motion to adjourn, and Mrs. Skaggs seconded the motion, and the motion was passed by consensus

  • Next meeting will be at Radcliff Elementary at 4:30 on Wednesday, May 23rd to further review and discuss applicants that were interviewed and to select the next principal of Radcliff Elementary School.
  • The meeting was adjourned at 3:53 p.m. Mrs. Skaggs made the motion to adjourn, and Mrs. Stinebruner seconded the motion, and the motion was passed by consensus.

  • Next meeting will be at Radcliff Elementary and selection for principal TBA/to be decided.
