RADCLIFF ELEMENTARY

SCHOOL-BASED DECISION MAKING COUNCIL MEETING                                 OF September 18, 2018

 

The meeting began at 3:55 p.m. in the school’s conference room with the following members present (Jacinta Pleasant, Amanda Conrad, Gina Stinebruner, Kiarra Williams and Shanna Skaggs). 

Visitors present were Carly Crews. 

 

Opening Business

a.Mrs. Stinebruner moved to approve the agenda.  Ms. Conrad seconded, and the motion passed by consensus.

b.Ms. Skaggs moved to approve the minutes from August 28, 2018.  Ms. Conrad seconded, and the motion passed by consensus.

c.No budget information to report on at this time.

d.Mrs. Pleasant shared with the council how PLCs have been going well.

e.No public comment at this time.

 

Student Achievement

a.Nothing to report for assessing student achievement

b.MAP data will be discussed at the faculty meeting.

 

School Improvement Planning

a.No monthly CSIP to review at this time.

 

Committee Reports

a.PBIS – The committee will be on Monday, September 24th at 2:30 in the music room.

b.Climate and Culture – The council reviewed the minutes and discussed the upcoming Fall Festival on October 25th.

c.Assessment – no report at this time

d.Instruction – no report at this time

e.Faculty and Student Handbook – no report at this time

f.Curriculum – no report at this time

 

By-laws or Policy Review, Readings, and/or Adoptions

a.The council read and reviewed the following policies: Alignment with State Standard Policy, Classroom Assessment Policy, Classroom Visitors/Observations Policy, and the Grading Policy.  The council will read and review the following policies for the next meeting; Homework Policy, Grade Transition Policy, and Instructional Policy.

The council read and reviewed the council By-Laws and will continue with the By-Laws at the next meeting starting on page 7.

b.Ms. Conrad discussed the ESS budget for the 2018-2019 school year.  The council reviewed the ESS budget.  Mrs. Skaggs made the motion to approve the ESS budget for the 2018-2019 school year.  Ms. Stinebruner seconded, and the motion passed by consensus.

 

Old Business

Mrs. Pleasant discussed SBDM training will be held on October 11th.

 

 

 

New Business:   

a.Mrs. Pleasant discussed the PPA proposed budget, and the council reviewed the budget.  Ms. Conrad made the motion to approve the PPA budget.  Mrs. Skaggs seconded, and the motion passed by consensus.

RADCLIFF ELEMENTARY

SCHOOL-BASED DECISION MAKING COUNCIL MEETING                                 OF August 28, 2018

 

The meeting began at 2:36 p.m. in the school’s conference room with the following members present (Jacinta Pleasant, Amanda Conrad, Gina Stinebruner, Christina Cooper and Shanna Skaggs).  Visitors present were Valerie Skillman, Christy Dugger, and Carly Crews. 

 

Opening Business

a.Mrs. Stinebruner moved to approve to amend the agenda.  Mrs. Conrad seconded, and the motion passed by consensus.

b.Ms. Conrad moved to approve the minutes from August 7, 2018.  Mrs. Stinebruner seconded, and the motion passed by consensus.

c.Mrs. Pleasant presented and discussed the 2018-2019 budget to the council.  The council reviewed the budget for the 2018-2019 school year.  Ms. Conrad moved to approve the appending changes to the 2018-2019 budget.  Mrs. Skaggs seconded, and the motion passed by consensus.

d.Mrs. Pleasant shared with the council how the school year has started off great, and how MAP testing has started for this year.

e.No public comment at this time.

 

Mrs. Skaggs made the motion to move to closed session.  Mrs. Stinebruner seconded, and the motion was passed by consensus.

The council went to closed session to consult with Mrs. Pleasant.

Ms. Conrad made the motion to adjourn the closed session.  Mrs. Skaggs seconded, and the motion was passed by consensus.

After consultation, Mrs. Pleasant consulted the council on the interviews and new hires that were conducted.  New hires are Ryan Hornback-custodian, Wendy Vanover-instructional assistant, Alexandria Samuels-instructional assistant, vacancy-PE.

a.Mrs. Pleasant discussed the Emergency Management Plan and the council reviewed the plan.  Mrs. Skaggs made the motion to approve the Emergency Management Plan.  Mrs. Stinebruner seconded, and the motion passed by consensus.

b.Ms. Skillman discussed the Title I budget for the 2018-2019 school year.  The council reviewed the Title I budget.  Mrs. Skaggs made the motion to approve the Title I budget for the 2018-2019 school year.  Ms. Conrad seconded, and the motion passed by consensus.

Old Business

Mrs. Pleasant discussed the meeting dates for the SBDM meetings for the 2018-2019 school year.  The council reviewed the dates.

Mrs. Skaggs made the motion to approve the SBDM meetings dates for the 2018-2019 school year.  Mrs. Stinebruner seconded, and the motion was passed by consensus.

 

New Business:   

a.Mrs. Pleasant reviewed the results from the faculty voting for Radcliff’s mascot to change from Patriots to Trojans.  The faculty voted for Trojans by majority.  The council discussed the results.  Mrs. Skaggs made the motion to approve to change Radcliff’s mascot from Patriots to Trojans.  Mrs. Stinebruner seconded, and the motion passed by consensus.

b.The council discussed the meetings to be scheduled

c.SBDM training will be held on October 11th

d.Personal was discussed about hiring.

e.Readings of the councils by-laws and policies will have a first read at the next meeting.

RADCLIFF ELEMENTARY

SCHOOL-BASED DECISION MAKING COUNCIL MEETING

August 7, 2018

 

The meeting began at 5:02 p.m. in the school’s conference room with the following members present (Jacinta Pleasant, Amanda Conrad, Gina Stinebruner-by phone, and Shanna Skaggs).  Visitors present were Jon Thomas-by phone and Carly Crews. 

 

Agenda:  Mrs. Skaggs moved to approve the agenda.  Mrs. Conrad seconded, and the motion passed by consensus.

 

New Business:   

Mrs. Skaggs made the motion to move to closed session.  Mrs. Stinebruner seconded, and the motion was passed by consensus. The council went to closed session to consult with Mr. Jon Thomas and Jacinta Pleasant about new hires.

 

Mrs. Stinebruner made the motion to adjourn the closed session.  Mrs. Skaggs seconded, and the motion was passed by consensus.

 

The following personnel were hired for the 2018-2019 school year:

  • Rachel Minner – 3rd grade special ed.
  •  Katie Richardson – KSI interventionist
  • Valerie Skillman – assistant principal
  • Cynthia Willis – 3rd grade. 

 

Vacancies are PE, Instructional Assistant, and Custodian. 

 

SBDM meeting dates – Mrs. Pleasant and the council will set the meeting dates for the 2018-2019 school year at the next council meeting.  Suggested SBDM meeting dates will be the third Tuesday in the month, and the meeting time will be 2:30 in the conference room. 

 

Miscellaneous Business/Information:
