Mrs. Morgan

Hello Parents,

I know all of you are hearing about the solar eclipse and the significance of this event.  I want to take a moment to remind you that Friday (August 18) is the last day to turn in paperwork for an Education Enhancement Day to your child’s building principal.  Information about this was sent home with the Eclipse Viewing permission slip and can also be found on our website.

I want to convey to you what has been communicated to our schools as shared by NASA.  The 15 minutes before and 15 minutes after the 96% eclipse are most sensitive and at no time during this approximate 33 minute window should anyone attempt to view the eclipse without proper precautions such as approved solar eclipse glasses or viewers.

I want to remind everyone that on Monday, elementary buses will dismiss at approximately 2:45 (15 minutes after the 96% partial eclipse).  When the buses have completed their elementary bus runs, they will immediately go to the middle and high schools and they will dismiss accordingly.  We are only delaying the release of busses.  If your child does not ride the middle or high school bus, he/she can be picked up at the regular dismissal times.  This also applies to student drivers.

Safety is our number one concern, so we ask that you not pick up your child during the most sensitive times of the partial eclipse.  This is truly an historical learning event.  If you are traveling to view the event, we wish you safe travels.
